Management Retail (UK) Benchmarking
The Troika/Slainte Benchmarking service has been
providing research to the Investment Management
industry for a number of years. We have just completed
our 12th round of benchmarking, representing our
6th year of continuous benchmarking of UK retail
IM operations. Our clients now include 18 of the
top fund managers with our benchmark data representing
more than 50% of the UK retail AUM.
The benchmark covers a number of categories of measures including costs, processing efficiency, staffing efficiency and quality. The findings from the benchmark provide valuable insights as to how other organisations are performing and enables each fund manager to focus on specific areas of potential improvement.

The outputs continue to be enhanced as we monitor the movement of key industry metrics and compare Participants’ own performance with other fund managers. Some recent interesting comparative questions addressed include:
Is STP processing growing as fast as it should and delivering the benefits?
What’s the right level of quality assurance: why is it that those conducting some of the highest checking have lower quality results?
What are non value processes – compliance, money laundering, etc
Is process outsourcing as cost effective as it might be?
Are in-house call centres better value?
How fast is aggregation putting pressure on the cost base?
The benchmarking report and presentations address these questions and provide insights to individual participants as to appropriate courses of action. In addition we host regular round-table discussions with all participants to discuss priority market topics and what each of the organisations is doing to address these.
