July 19th, 2007 –The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition Private Viewing Client Evening, London

On the 19th July, over 195 Troika clients and guests attended our exclusive viewing of the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy on Piccadilly. As a proud supporter of the Royal Academy, it was fantastic to see so many Troika clients attend and enjoy the art, champagne and canapés. This year's exhibitions featured the theme of 'Light' and 'Impressionists by the Sea'. For more information, please visit www.royalacademy.org.uk

September 7th, 2006 - English Golf Day, Foxhills, Surrey

What a great day for golf at Foxhills in Surrey. For the third year running the sun was shining for the 70+ clients and Troikans who congregated on a lovely September morning.

Once registered and equipped with branded caps, T-shirts and golf balls, the teams set off. All skill levels from the semi-professional to the semi-proficient were represented and although not everyone was in the race for a prize, navigating the lovely Bernard Hunt course was a joy.

Drinks on the veranda and a beautiful evening meal served with the usual Foxhills hospitality were enjoyed by all after a hard days work on the golf course. After all, a wise man once said, ‘A bad day on the golf course is better than a good day in the office!’

Unfortunately no-one managed a hole-in-one to win the sleek and shiny black BMW parked beside the club house but at least there were a couple of ‘if only’ stories from players who ended up close to the hole.

Congratulations to Denzil Morgan for walking away with the champagne for the best individual score and for the best Four-Ball of Neil Mayall, Crispin Henderson, Stephen Bennett and Paul Roberts.

June 29th 2006 - Scottish Golf Day, Glenealges, Scotland

We finally struck gold – a dry round at Gleneagles!

Troika held their third annual Scottish golf day on the Queen’s Course at Gleneagles to give a big thank-you to all the Scottish clients we have worked with over the last year. Although there were some mixed results on the golfing front there was a unanimous feeling that a fantastic day was had by all. Our gamble of moving the day from September to June in search of good weather paid off with rain only falling for 10 minutes – that can definitely be declared a ‘technically dry day’ in Auchterarder!

After some hard work on the course the party made their way to the Gleneagles Suite for a beautiful private dining experience which was the perfect ending to a very memorable day. The awards ceremony saw Michael Canning from Standard Life taking the individual award with Andrew Veal, Peter Inman, Paul McMahon and Kevin Russell taking the best 4-ball prize.

March 14th 2006 - China - The Three Emperors exhibit - The Royal Academy

On March 14th, Troika was joined in by a number of clients and their partners at a private evening view of the Royal Academy’s latest blockbuster exhibition, “China, The Three Emperors”. This involved champagne, canapés, live music, a (very) brief speech and a chance to wander at will around the sumptuous exhibition – without the general public getting in the way.

Judging by the difficulties we had getting people to leave, the evening was much enjoyed, both by genuine “culture vultures” and by those who came more to catch up with contacts old and new! Entertainment continued over at the Clarendon Hotel, where a small group of die-hard revelers gathered to drink champagne into the small hours…

Troika is extremely proud of our recent involvement as a corporate supporter of the Royal Academy of Arts and we look forward to hosting many more such events – so thank you to all those who came along and made this first one such a success.

2nd March 2006
- The Brain Game

On the 2nd March 2006, Troika, again sponsored two tables at the annual Marie Curie Brain Game, held at The Brewery, Moorgate and hosted once again by Chris Tarrant. Aside from the splendid three course dinner, the evening was less of a resounding success than last year, with neither table making it into the top 20! In upholding what has become a tradition, a fantastic evening was had by all attendees and we look forward to improving our standings at next years event.

August 2005 - The Ashes, Old Trafford

In August, Troika and a number of clients joined the growing Barmy Army in cheering on Michael Vaughan and England in Chapter 3 of the historic Ashes series victory. Watching a Vaughan century on Day One was a great way to spend the day and a fantastic start to a Test ultimately drawn due to the weather. Still, bad light and rain saved the day a month later and helped the Urn return to its rightful owners!

Scottish Golf Day -
Gleneagles, Scotland

Turning the precedent set last year into a tradition, Troika held their 2nd ever Scottish golf day in Gleneagles on 22nd September 2005 to say thank-you to the ever expanding number of Scottish clients who we have worked with over the last year. There was certainly a sense of anticipation amongst the teams as they warmed up to play on the Jack Nicklaus designed PGA Centenary Course on what was a rather wet and windy Scottish day. However long and difficult the course proved to be, the interesting holes and outstanding countryside certainly made it enjoyable to play and after all, skin is waterproof!
A warm shower and a cold pint in the Dormy bar was greatly welcomed by everyone before we moved onto the Terrace dining room in the beautiful Gleneagles hotel for a fantastically presented traditional dinner. Well done to Mike Evans, the overall winner of the individual prize and to Chris Gibson, David Martin and Jonathan Shinton for winning the team event. Thanks to everyone that travelled to Gleneagles to make the day a great success, we look forward to seeing you all next year.

Troika 6th annual golf day -
Foxhills, Surrey

The 6th Troika Annual golf day was held on the 7th September 2005 at the usual venue of Foxhills in Surrey. What a scorcher! The roving drinks cart was heavily over-subscribed with demand for refreshment as both Troikans and guests played on the magnificent Bernard Hunt course. As is traditional on Troika golf outings, there is a world of difference between the highest and lowest scores on the day but this did not stop the entire field of competitors enjoying a great time.
Maybe the best golf of the day was played out during conversations on the sun terrace back at the club house over a cold drink before we had the chance to enjoy Foxhills’ excellent hospitality over our evening meal. Well done to Stewart Bennett who won the Individual prize and to the 4-ball of Andrew Veal, Dennis Cann, Phil Neat and Philip Whitefield who won the team event. Both decisions were very close going to a count-back for the final call. Thanks again to everyone that came along on the day and made the event a real success.

Lords Taverners 6-a-side Cricket tournament -
Sir John Paul Getty's Wormsley Estate, Oxfordshire

Once again, on July 8th, Troika gathered together its cricketing elite and made the trek to Sir John Paul Getty's Wormsley Estate in Oxfordshire. This year eclipsed all others as we raced away to win a record - one game. In keeping with tradition, the focus was on entertainment, rather than sporting excellence.

As a result of our ongoing contribution to the Lord's Taversners, Troika has partly sponsored a specially adapted minibus which was donated to the Hazel Carr School in Eastbourne, post event. read more...
